I'm here because I've been living in Germany for 10 months. I fell in love with a very traditional Bavarian Girl and last weekend she gave me an old Bavarian Cookbook as a present and she put an Edelweiss inside. She picked the flower in the alpine mountains of Südtirol in Italy. Although the flower is protected, she was visiting a friend, and because she is local, she can pick one every so often.

I’m a 7th generation Texan and my great grandmother’s father’s side was of German decent. When she was born, her daddy named her Edelvis after the flower that he no doubt only knew of because of the folk song that was passed down by word of mouth. (Her name was Pronounced Kinda like Ed-Elvis, or e-del-vis. But she just went by Dell)

Oh Wow! I made it into Erika's presentation!!! Loved loved the spring dirndl party. I will say that I actually wear a dirndl at more events that are outside from June through October, and these days it is regularly around 90 degrees that entire time (blame climate change). Thick black fabrics are not cutting it for me--I need a light thin fabric so that I am not sizzling like a jaegerschnitzel. I need a blouse that doesn't twist up while I am trying to squeeze into it. Am I the only one?
